... To actually winning a race in The Marin Headlands. I'm now 0-5 in races in Marin. I'm obviously quite happy with my race yesterday, but I do feel a bit like I let one get away that I had in my grasp. I don't know if there's anything I really could have done though to hold off Miguel
Heras. He was on fire the last 10 miles. Overall it was a super fun day of running with some of the fastest ultra runners in the world. I'll write up a full report about my race in a couple days. For now though It's all driving. Hitting the road in just a bit for the 1,200 mile drive from here back to Boulder.

You still ran one hell of a race Geoff! To go to battle with the best in the world at this distance has to be exciting for sure. You put it all on the line. Dakota Jones showed his metal as well, pushing the pace at the front with you. Make sure you get out and stretch on the drive back every couple hundred miles. Rest up! You've earned it.
Enjoy the space inbetween, see ya at the PP50K
it seems it was a great race...all of you (at least 5 or 6of you) were struggled hard on this trail....and you specially were in every part of this race on the very top front of the pack...a glorious day for you, never less than first until the last climb...be proud..you're, still and better since yesterday, a model for a lot of runners in the world whereas you're hopefully just human like us actually.
remember when you beated kilian at WS...heras beat you too...it's the same story...all of you,i mean the top 10 in the world in which i compt tony, matt carpenter,you,kilian...could be beated by a several legion of incredible runners...just for one day...but you, always, you'll still play for victory...for some glorious day;-)
congrats Geoff. I was a lot of fun to get updates on Twitter. You're amazing! Look forward to seeing you at El Chubbo Grande? And Ponderous Posterior?
Great job Geoff!
Geoff,
I just want you to know that everyone back "home" is so proud of you. You are the most humble victor I have ever met. And on the rare occasion that someone has a better day than you, you show the utmost respect for them. Your character speaks volumes and you have been rewarded greatly for that. Keep doing what you do and I really do look forward to sharing the trails together one day, even if only at the start line and after the race!
Boo Radley
How are you a little bit closer? You were second place last year.
Amazing year of running though.
-Collin
Congrats Geoff, you are still the man.

That anonymous signed off as "Collin" is not me, just so you know... haha. Great race.
Great race Geoff!
Great race geoff! You may be 0-5 but that first win is going to be o so sweet!! Looking forward to it
From your post race video with irunfar you say you are running Bandara this Jan. It will be interesting to see if you can/will knock some time off Nick's course record.
Run strong and good luck in 2011... it's going to be a great year.
-Mark
To Collin (Anonymous): He is closer because he was less than 4 minutes back this year versus over 7 minutes last year.
Great job Geoff. What a race to be a part of.
Super race, Geoff. You did both sides of Green Mtn proud! Whatever Miguel did Saturday to find that late speed was amazing, though I would've still liked to see you and Dave duking it out late in the race.
Hope your ultra-drive was smooth. See you, Tim
@Footfeathers - maybe the recovery came from those "Recuperation Pills" in this photo.
Small White Packet in the upper right corner(above gel). There was a better shot of this on the Salomon Running page on Facebook, but now it has been deleted from there pictures.

First of all it would be interesting you say your name when you tell that kind of things/lies/rubbish/nonsense of an athlete who has suffered a lot to became one of the most respected guys in trail running. You can ask everyone for this man and they tell you.....
He is not a rookie, although you have not heard nothing about him.
Europe is a big continent with a lot of interesting races too and the best of sport is the possibility to go to different countries and show people who you are.
Nowadays is very easy because internet.
You just have to look for it.
If UTMB were not cancellated this year you certainly know MIGUEL ANGEL HERAS.
I just wanna say the best thing in sports is knowing how to win and above all HOW TO LOOSE.

@footfeathers,
you are a fruitcake!!!
Girona.
Sorry footgeathers, not you but anonymous.
Girona.
I have nothing but respect and admiration for miguel and for the race ran on saturday. speculation, with no factual basis (like these ones being made by the anon. comments) don't do anyone any good.
It's perfectly normal for someone to find a way to finish a race as strong as miguel did on saturday. after all this (finishing unbelievably strong) has been my strong point in most of the best races i've run in the past couple years.
Congratulations again for your race Geoff and best of all for being such a better man than even an high-class athlete.
You are a gentlman.

Well said Geoff,
Rest well and continue to do great things. You guys put on one hell of a race. Looking foward to a spectacular 2011 and all the uncertainty it holds.
Geoff,
gas a tope!!!
Girona.
Congratulations Geoff on a race well run and more congratulations for being such a gentleman and telling your recap of the race and how you see the race from a runners standpoint. You are a class act. That is much more impressive than winning.
He gets it from his parents ;)
Thanks, Michelle. We try our best and I guess it really is worth all the effort. It is very rewarding to see that a lot of hard work really pays off.
