Actually, they will be sending out a tweet at midnight March 31, 2011 to let all runners know if there will be a replacement run up the Eiffel Tower. Stay tuned.
Good to know that you are taking it all so philosophically Geoff. I'm sorry that you did not get to run the course and also to have the chance to measure up against Killian on a course which is very different from Western States - by the way I'm sure you know that Killian came to Italy on Sunday and won the Sky Running Championship taking 25 minutes off the previous course record. Personally I ran the alternative Mont Blanc race but I have to say it left a bit of a bitter taste in my mouth and I also think you did not miss a lot - the weather was pretty bad all the same and the amount of mud on the ground did not make for a wonderful running experience. I hope that we'll see you here ext year.
Hi there ... I was in UTMB too and was told early the next morning that we could run the Courmayer-Chamonix section but needed to be in Chamonix by 6 am to catch the bus. I'm glad I went ... even though it was a cold, wet, muddy day and night, I really enjoyed it and it gave me a taste of what the 166km circuit is like. I'm definitely going to try and go back next year. Plus it gives me another 11 months to get stronger!
I'm bummed you're not running the Wasatch 100 this year. I was hoping to see you scream across the Wasatch Mountains in record time. I bet they'd let you in. You should consider it. Is 4 days enough time to get here?
So since you are fresh and ready to go are you going to come out and join me at Pine to Palm in a few weeks?
ReplyDeleteAre you already tapering? ;-)
ReplyDeleteRight on, Geoff. I hope I'm following you around Mont Blanc by foot rather than car next August.
