Free Shoes

Things definitely did not go as planned for me at the Miwok, but one thing that I was 100% pleased with was how my feet felt in my Montrail Mountain Masochists. Granted I only put in 42 miles but I had absolutely no blisters, hot spots, or foot fatigue. I can't stress enough how much I like these shoes. It's such a nice feeling to have a shoe that I can put on my feet and have complete confidence that it will perform the way I want it to.

Well, here's a chance for you all to get your own pair. Montrail is giving away a free pair of shoes each day this entire month. All you need to do to have a chance to win is sign up as a fan of Montrail shoes on Facebook. Here's the link.

  1. I am loving the Masochist. I am slowly becoming a convert to Montrail. I will for sure wear them next month at SD 100.

(Though I still think the NB 790s are the best for trail 50ks.)

  2. I'm also enjoying my pair of Masochists though I have yet to do a run in them. Just wearing them and breaking them in. I tweaked my calf this past Friday morning while on a short run and am trying to have it ready for a trail 5k race this Saturday. It happened while slightly jumping over a puddle (stupid on my part). I've been rubbing BioFreeze gel & icy hot on it then wrapping an ace bandage around it.

Any other last minute treatment suggestions?

  4. Geoff, great to see you and jill at miwok. ya'll come back to alaska soon.
I ran the entire race in an old pair (600 miles on them) of size 12montrail streaks, soaked wet for 62miles and didn't even know they were on. No blisters, no slippage.
Can't say that for the POS shoes i wore at HURT.

  5. Geoff,

Thanks for the heads up on Traumeel. Found some at a Whole Foods Market and started applying it Wednesday night. Calf is getting better day by day but I'm a little worried how it will respond in the 5k trail race tomorrow morning. Speed races are usually the biggest test in how things like this feel.
