6 for 6

I completed the Bear 100 in 18:43. Another hundred mile win and another course record. My 6th win in 6 hundred mile races, including the course record on each of the 5 courses I've raced. For whatever that's worth. More than anything though it was just a really great day to run all day. The weather was perfect and that route is as beautiful as any race I've ever done (or at least any race outside of Alaska).

I felt pretty good most of the day. My legs started to feel heavy at about mile 40. I felt great some of the time after that but I also felt really weak some of the time after that.

I never really thought of this one as a race. Rather just an excuse to run all day through some beautiful terrain. I would like to come back and "race" the Bear sometime. With a fresh and focused effort I know I could go well below 18 hours, maybe below 17.

I need a nap now.

I'll probably write up a more detailed report in the next few days.

Congrats Geoff. Look forward to hearing more about how the race went and how it felt so close to your last 100.

You told me the night before the race that you felt like hell. What the hell?

I was once went 6 for 6 with hot girls when I was in college. So take that!!

(alright that was a lie)

Congrats on a great race.

Followed your progress all day. No doubt after about mile 40. Guess you better stick to 100/mile races, and avoid those 100K races, eh? ;)

Congratulations on an impressive, and impressively easy victory.

Huge congrats. Very impressive showing, especially since you didn't have Karl breathing down your back this time. You looked strong yet very relaxed when we saw you at mile 20, and we knew the guys in front of you were toast. Nice work- maybe go get your 4th 100 this year?

Well done. I don't know you but I enjoy reading about your running and can't help but feel very happy for you. I hope the success continues.

Well done Geoff,

It will be a crime if you're not male ultrarunner of the year. Love your new perspective as well. Keep running for the love of it!

A treat running with you for ten seconds in ricks hollow ;-). Vid will be up soon. Come back next year and get that 17!

You vacillate between hubris and self-deprecation more than any other running blogger I know. It sure makes for fascinating reading. It's definitely time to walk the walk at Tour Du Mont Blanc next year and dominate over there. It's interesting that European superstar Killian Jornet is gunning for the Tahoe record today/tomorrow...maybe you could challenge him on that one as well as Mont Blanc.

How much do we have to pay to get you, Karl, Kyle, Tony K, etc. etc. all in Hardrock in the same year?
